Before I start be warned that I am physically and mentally exhausted and I just finished four hours of finals, so none of this may make any sense. So I know you are all wondering how I am doing homeless, but no worries because we found a cute little apartment in a tiny town with only 12,000 people and unlike any place I have ever lived. I stay sane because there is a real city about fifteen minutes away, along with many other cities within a few minutes/hours like Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. It is so nice to finally feel a little bit settled! I haven't been able to get to know many people yet, so I am starting to go a little crazy, but Nate finds it amusing so we are surviving. This last week was full of events! First, we finished moving into our new apartment only for things to immediately start breaking. Our fridge/freezer wasn't working and we had to throw away most our food in the freezer. That same day I ran the dishwasher for the first time and the sink filled up with a million creatures from the Black Lagoon only to discover the disposal wasn't working. So we were basically rotting as a whole that day, it was disgusting. Both have since been fixed by our great maintenance man and are running great now. The next day I was cutting cheese slices on the side of one of those big block graters and my hand slipped and I cut a good chunk out of my knuckle. Actually it was too deep a chunk to actually fall off, so it is more like a dead knuckly skin flap now, but it's healing. Finally, Thursday I went into the bathroom for my pre-bed potty (sorry, but it's a necessary element in the story) and as I went to sit down the biggest beast of an insect I have ever seen went skittering past my bare foot and ran into the shower. Adrenaline is an amazing thing, and I think my entire body lifted about a foot with little to no effort as I screamed. Nate came running in, only to discover that the scream that made him think I was dying was over a cockroach. But don't make fun! It really was the biggest insect I have ever seen in real life! It was about the same length as chapstick plus thickness. I ran out while he crunched and flushed it and am still trying to overcome it. Since then, we have had relatively decent luck so I think our initiation into the apartment is over.
On a lighter note, we went to San Antonio Friday night and it was awesome! The city is huge and has a lot to offer. We walked around the Alamo before it closed, then went over to the River Walk by the mall. It was so pretty and I never imagined Texas would be so green. We are having such a fun time exploring and I can't wait to see more!

Oh and by the way, as of a few hours ago, I am officially done with school for the semester! Yay!
