Texas!

It has been quite a while since I posted and A LOT has happened, so I will do my best to catch up with everything over the next few days. We have officially relocated to Lockhart, Texas. For those of you not familiar with the area (probably everyone reading this), it is about half an hour from Austin. Nate got a call for a job offer with the Boy Scouts of America after a few months of interviews, and they asked us to come as soon as possible. Nate was so excited he agreed to start work April 1st, which was about 2 weeks after the call. So we packed like crazy and said as many goodbyes as we could in those short days. Nate's family drove down to help for the weekend and I don't know how we would have left in time without all their help! My sister-in-laws Chelsea and Brittney helped so much watching Taven. We had so much help from family and I love them all! Thank you to my mom, Nate's mom and dad, Brittney, Chelsea, Ryan, Nate, and Brynn! You are amazing! So I packed up the car and Nate and Ryan (Nate's brother) and Rocky loaded up in the Jeep and we left about 7:30 AM on Sunday, March 29th. We drove south through Utah into New Mexico the first day. New Mexico was awful! Sorry if anyone is from there or has a personal attachment to that hole but all it was for about six hours was dust storms as far as you could see in any direction with little Navajo huts spotting the desert every eighty miles or so. We stayed in Roswell that night, but it was already 11 so we didn't get to see any cool alien sites or anything. After that 14 hour drive we got up the next day and drove to Bastrop, TX. The first couple hours into Texas it was completely flat with nothing to look at but brush and oil rigs. After a while the trees started lining the highway and got more beautiful the closer we got. Texas is a lot more green than I imagined! We drove to the little cabin we were staying at temporarily (pictures to come) after another nine hours that day. SInce then we have found our own place in Lockhart (West of Bastrop) and have spent the last few days moving in and finally getting internet. I have a lot of school work to catch up on so I will be posting more about our stay in Bastrop and some adventures we have had here so far sometime next week.

  1. I bet you drove right past Midland! It is a little town in the middle of nowhere in the western part of Texas. Texas is so glad to have you!
